Who’s On First? A tribute to Bud Abbott & Lou Costello

Abbott & Costello were the #1 box office stars of the 1940′s. Making 38 movies, starring on their own sit-com for two years, appearing regularly on the Colgate Comedy Hour, radio, Broadway and of course their humble beginnings in Burlesque, Vaudeville and radio. But why are they the most successful comedy team of all time? They just did it better. They took the same routines every other burlesque team performed and simply did it better.

The were not clowns. They were the best stand-up comedians of their time. A perfect mixture of witty jests and physical slap stick. But they were real characters. Struggling to survive in time of war and depression, not to mention trying to survive each others onslaught of malpropisms and insults.
